Historic Maine Cottage

Maine

A classic Maine “cottage” needed a full interior upgrade without interrupting the home’s sense of historic lineage that is typical of many homes in the region. We enhanced its personality by updating the rooms for casual summer living, defining the spaces through a color palette and materials that evoke the coastal setting’s restorative ambiance. By eliminating a large fireplace that blocked the stunning views, we were able to subtly blur the lines between the home’s original stateliness and the lure of summers spent outdoors. Functional upgrades transformed underutilized spaces into cherished ones and throughout, a carefully curated mix of timeless furnishings expresses a thoughtful restraint balancing historical charm with casual living.
